Voicing is a procedure that makes the tone even from note to note and from section to section. Voicing is done by changing the density of the hammer to implement a certain tone.

  • When the piano is not able to hold a tuning for long periods of time.
  • When the soundboard has 2 or more cracks.
  • If the ribs are separate form the soundboard resulting in soundboard buzzes.
  • When the strings are rusty and have no tonal quality.
  • When the action does not respond to adjustments.

A piano is tuned by adjusting the tension of the strings so that the harmonics are properly lined up.

A piano less than two years old should be tuned 3-4 times a year depending on the humidity control. A piano older than 2 years old should be tuned 2-4 times a year depending on the humidity control.

In order for the sound on a piano the to be uniform all of the parts must move efficiently from one key to the next. Regulation is the adjustment of the action parts to allow for uniform movement from key to key. Regulation should be preformed approximately every 5 years but can vary based on the amount of play. If your piano is played on a regular basis you may find the need to have the regulation worked on more frequently. Voicing is often performed at the same time as the regulation.

Pianos for Sale

We currently don't have any finished pianos in stock for sale at this time. But we do have a few pianos currently being restored in our shop and should be listed here fairly soon (we are sorry but we don't know the exact date as each piano is unique and requires a lot of custom and specialized work). Please contact us to be in our waiting list. Our pianos are sold on a first come, first serve basis.
